The Roatan morning bite is when the deep-sea action peaks. Calm seas, cool air, and fish moving between the reef edge and the offshore drop-offs make the pre-noon hours the most productive window of the day. Our private morning fishing charter in Roatan is built around that window — 4 to 5 hours on the water aboard the fastest custom sportfishing vessel on the island.
Dos Reyes Roatan Charter departs from Gibson Bight Marina in Sandy Bay. Our 2024 custom 34-foot center console runs twin Yamaha 250HP commercial outboards, which puts you at the productive offshore water in roughly a quarter of the time a standard local charter takes. That means more lines in the water and less commuting time on the boat.
Standard morning departures leave the marina at 6:30 to 7:00 AM. For cruise passengers docked at Mahogany Bay or Port of Roatan, our team meets you at the ship and shuttles you to the marina under our Back-to-Ship Guarantee. On a morning charter we typically work three zones depending on what species you want to target: the offshore drop-offs and seamounts (deep sea trolling), the reef edges (mixed reef fishing), or the flats and shallows if you want to switch to light tackle mid-trip.
The morning window is prime time for a broad species mix. Depending on the season, you can expect action on:
For a full breakdown of what runs when, see our Roatan Fish Species and Best Bite Seasons Guide.
The morning charter is our most-requested fishing trip for two reasons. First, the water is calmest at first light, which means a more comfortable ride and better conditions for spotting schooling fish. Second, cruise passengers can complete a 4-to-5-hour morning charter and be back at the ship well inside the Back-to-Ship Guarantee window. If you are staying on the island and want a later start, our afternoon half-day fishing charter returns at sunset. If you want the full offshore experience with time to reach the seamounts, book the full-day deep sea fishing charter.
