The Roatan afternoon bite is a different game than the morning. Water temps peak, pelagic species move into predictable feeding lanes, and the golden-hour light makes for some of the best fishing photography on the island. Our private afternoon fishing charter runs 4 to 5 hours with a sunset return to Sandy Bay, aboard the fastest custom sportfishing vessel in Roatan.

The Afternoon Route
Standard afternoon departures leave Gibson Bight Marina between 12:30 and 1:30 PM, with a return timed to the sunset window depending on the season. Captain Julio Bodden chooses the route based on conditions and target species — deep-water offshore trolling to the seamount edges, reef-edge trolling along the Bay Islands drop, or a mix of both. On calm afternoons the ride out is fast; on choppier days the vessel and twin Yamaha 250HP motors handle the swell without soaking guests.

- Wahoo — the fastest-striking pelagic in Roatan waters, hits hardest at higher water temps

The Boat, Gear, and Crew
The afternoon charter runs the same 2024 custom 34-foot center console we use for every trip. Twin Yamaha 250HP motors, Garmin plotters with sonar, VHF marine radio, USCG-approved life vests for all ages, expanded shade canopy that keeps the afternoon sun off guests, high-fidelity Bluetooth sound system, integrated coolers, and a clean private marine head. What Is Included
Base rate covers up to 6 guests and includes fuel, fishing license, professional captain and first mate, all rods, reels and tackle, live and cut bait, ice, coolers, safety gear, fresh fruit, and bottled water. Beer, wine, and food add-ons available at booking. Additional guests are $75 per person up to a maximum of 10.

What style of Deep Sea fishing should I expect?
If we are Deep Sea fishing, trolling is the best method. The crew will get 4 to 6 lines out. We will use different lures to attract Tuna, Wahoo, Barracuda and Mahi Mahi (Dorado). Please ask the Captain questions. We can deep drop also and at times some live bait still or drift fishing is fun too. If you want to change to snorkeling or visiting an island let the Captain know. We can change the trip if you want something different.

Deep sea fishing offers adventure and big game thrills (Marlin, sailfish, Tuna, Mahi-mahi, Wahoo, Barracuda), while inshore fishing delivers calm waters and less driving (Snapper, Grouper, Jacks, Barracuda) — choosing the right charter depends on your goals, experience, and desired catch. Where do you pick up guests in Roatan? Do you offer hotel and dock pickup?
Yes. On the island, we offer complimentary boat pickup at any dock within about 3 miles of our home base at Gibson Bight Marina, including Sandy Bay, Lawson Rock, West Bay, and West End. If your hotel, Airbnb, or resort has a dock in that zone, we can pick you up there at no extra cost. For guests arriving by cruise ship, we run round-trip land transportation from the cruise terminals: Isla Tropicale, formerly known as Mahogany Bay (Carnival, Princess, Holland America) is $150 up to 6 guests, and Port of Roatan / Town Center (Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, MSC, Virgin) is $125 up to 6 guests. Cruise-dock pickups use land transport rather than boat because the south-shore ports can have wave conditions unsafe for a boat approach. Our long-standing partnership with Captain Julio Bodden and Roatan Bilingual Tours provides a professional 15-passenger van for these transfers so cruise guests get a seamless door-to-marina experience.
What should we bring?
You will be in the Caribbean Ocean, on a boat for 4 to 8 hours. Bring sunglasses, hat, sun screen, and a towel. A rash guard shirt is good for the reef gives a nasty road rash if you rub against the reef. Any long sleeve shirt works.
Bring your own cooler (up to 36") with food, drinks and ice or take advantage of our add-ons at checkout and leave the carry-ons to us!
